Jayonna is a photographer who values and combines the realm of fine art and editorial based photography through her dark lush art making. She desires to tell a story through the way she photographs her subjects and desires photographing people in a way that is authentic to who they are. She began her journey through self portraits; by photographing herself she was on a journey of faith which was a large aspect in discovering who she is not only as an artist but as a person. Through her discovery of self, as a photographer and Christ follower she sought out ways to photograph her subjects in a way that reveals who they are. This brings a level of intimacy to her photography. She wishes for those that view her work receive insight into whom she photographs. She values community and conversations about identity and the power in discovering oneself. 

Jayonna has pushed against the standards and labels that were placed on her at a young age and preserved through her work that is true to who she is. Her wish is to encourage those who view her work to step out of the boundaries of what the world expects them to be.
